PURCHASE A BOOK for Providence Books through Bars at these Providence area independent book stores: Books on the Square, Paper Nautilus and Mary’s Paperbacks and your donation will be doubled! All book purchases will be matched with a cash donation up to a total of $1,000 per bookstore.
Books can be purchased online or in the store. If you shop online, don’t worry about shipping. We will pick up the books at the bookstores. If you shop in person, please ask the bookstore to hold the book/s for us.

ABOUT US
Providence Books Through Bars is a Rhode Island-based volunteer non-profit organization. We are independent and non-denominational and are located on the ground floor of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Apponaug Village, Warwick.
Our mission is to use donated books to provide free reading material for incarcerated people nationwide.
Books are crucial for education, self-fulfillment, entertainment and community-building. They represent a life-line for prisoners with few resources, and let incarcerated people know that they are not forgotten.
VOLUNTEER
Providence Books Through Bars is an all-volunteer organization.
We are open for drop-in volunteers on Sundays from 11 to 1 and will post to Facebook if not (holiday, severe weather or other unusual event).

Have some books you wish to donate? We accept donations of paperbacks.
Looking to donate funds? Great! The vast majority of our books are donated, but we spend thousands of dollars every year on postage. We accept PayPal, credit cards and checks for donations.
